LDF: Power Of Making

The Power of Making is a V&A and Craft Council exhibition running in time and in conjunction with London Design Festival .It explores the vast world of making by showcasing 100 skillfully made objects. The exhibit is an exceptionally well put together guide to the world of making, Highlighting the ingenuity and creativity present in all craft across the board.

From traditional methods of making such as the construction of dry stone walls to the use of open source 3D printers the show encourages visitors to stop and think about the level of skill and innovation that goes into the production of everything.

One of my favorite parts of the exhibition was the collection of small films being projected onto the back wall of the space. The shorts provide a window into a great range of different styles of making and crafts from around the world. I could have happily sat there for hours being mesmerized by creative’s in ‘the zone’ as that feeling of being completely engrossed in a project is described earlier in the exhibit.

I strongly recommend that you go and have a look around the show and discover some new things about the amazing world of making.

Power Of Making is open at the V&A until the 2nd of January 2012.
